Quality control of products begins from Raw material itself. Salient features for ensuring reliability of product quality in the company are:
RAW MATERIAL
Forgings are received Heat Code wise from the forgings suppliers duly isothermally annealed/ normalized. Before being taken for further processing they are subjected to dimensional and metallurgical checks as detailed below: -
• Visual Inspection for cracks and folds.
• Hardness.
• Micro structure.
• Grain Size and Grain flow.
In Process for Gears
* First off inspection
* Tooth thickness by means of MOT/DOP
* Root Diameter
* PCD Runout and composite error.
* Lead and tgt-profile
* Patrol inspection to verify and record parameters on process control charts.
For Bevel
* Tooth thickness
* PCD Runout
* Tooth contacts in soft Gears
* Backlash with mating parts
* Crack detection of ground surfaces by Magnaflux.
* Final testing to ensure backlash at correct mounting distance, tooth contact, runout and marking mounting distance variations.
